How Does Alli Work?
Before anybody starts thinking about weight loss, he must know how weight is gained. When anybody takes any extra amount of fat or calorie, the excess fat gets stored in our body resulting in what we call weight gain.
To understand how fat Alli diet works is one should understand the process of fat digestion. When we eat fatty food our body system breaks it down to its simplest components so that it can be digested. As we take oily food, bile which is secreted by the liver contains certain salts and pigments which acts on the fat molecules and reduced the surface tension of the oil in the food. Now this is acted upon by enzyme called lipase, which is a component of the gastric juice. Some lipase is liberated by pancreas as well.
This is the stage when the Xenical a component in the Alli diet works; it blocks the action of lipase by attaching itself to lipase molecules. This prevents the lipase from acting on the oil molecules so the fat molecules are not broken into smaller pieces by lipase. Thus the fat molecule in its enlarged state fails to get absorbed into the body as the bigger molecules are not permeable through the pores of the villi which are the organ of absorption. In this way a large part of the oil taken by the individual is not absorbed into the body and so it cannot be assimilated or used by the body.
The Xenical works by preventing fat digestion as well as using up carbohydrate which is used to replace the fat which was not absorbed to supply energy to the body. The extra carbohydrates are also not stored and the oil is not used so the net body weight is reduced.
Most of other weight loss medications work on brain to prevent hunger and so prevent weight gain by preventing the food intake.
